Spring has sprung!

Spring is finally here at the Golden Earthworm and we're busy getting ready for the upcoming season.  Our greenhouses are already in full swing with thousands of transplants being seeded every day, and a new greenhouse is being built as well.  This new house will be used for both in-ground growing (...delicious greens for the 2010 winter share....) and tables for our transplants.

Out in the fields, Matthew and James are on top of their game, getting our peas seeded ahead of schedule this year-- thanks to great weather and a little bit of luck!  When touring the fields the other day, I noticed the beautiful garlic coming up.  Here are some recent photos...

Diggin' Taters!

Our new-to-us potato digger in action last week... It may not look like much, but this monster of a machine can dig and sort a row of potatoes in just a few minutes. Quite spectacular!

A Tour of the Fields

Matthew and I took a tour of some of our fields last week. Everything looks gorgeous! The winter squash fields are full of the most beautiful, strong and productive plants we've ever grown! Eggplants are doing great, as are the tomatoes, peppers, cabbage and leeks...

Flowers, Glorious Flowers

Our Flower Share began this week for our Queens sites, and oh what a site it was in the barn! Our dear friend Martha, who is a wizard with flowers, runs the show!

Farmstand Produce

I stopped off at our roadside farmstand on Saturday, just a few minutes before we closed at 5. Justine and I chatted for a while and I couldn't resist taking a few shots of the "leftovers" before loading them up into the basket on my bike and heading home to cook them up for supper!
